What ‎will I be doing?

As a Senior Product Manager on the Ebooks team, you will be responsible for driving the creation of compelling Ebooks content products from concept to market. You will work with stakeholders and other product managers to enhance Ebooks content products and services in new and innovative ways. 

 

In this position, you will also...

• Document clear and measurable product requirements and make trade-off recommendations between implementation and functionality.

• Lead focus groups, customer surveys, and user testing to inform product priorities. Provide direction as to relevant customer segments to target for research.

• Understand market priorities and work to identify trade-offs. Drive activities to deliver product to market, according to product roadmap. Prioritize and sequence product features and stories to meet market demands. Lead feature and roadmap definition for specific product area(s).

• Internalize product strategy such that it informs market requirements and feature prioritization. Create and justify product strategy, provide new opportunities for major feature/function enhancements.

• Construct and justify business plan for approval. Own topline for product lines. Contribute to content plan/budget. 

• Take ownership of product profitability; develop strategy to drive growth programmatically in opportune or needed areas. Deliver positioning of new feature/function; provide feedback into competitor feature/function.

• Develop full launch package including pricing and product bundling options; targeted segments; competitive analysis.

• Author market requirements and bring forward market requirements to grow product(s).

 

Qualified candidates must have...

• Bachelors’ degree or higher in related field, plus 3 to 5 years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Customer Relationship Management - Able to manage intermediate customer questions and concerns for their product(s). 

• Negotiation Skills - Able to manage simple negotiations with supervision or instruction.

• Effective Management of People – Able to effectively lead projects. Strong management skills to lead a small team of up to 1 to 2 employees. Ability to influence others.

• Data Analysis - Able to effectively use data to drive more complex decisions, ability to establish relevant metrics with little direction.

• Financial Modeling -With direction, able to complete and apply financial modeling to matters of low complexity.

• Investment Payback Understanding - Firm understanding of ROI, with direction, able to use as a decision-making tool.

• Understands Business Drivers, Context and Key Issues - Has a good working and background understanding of business drivers and key issues, sees actions at least partly in organizational context, requires direction and refinement in applying knowledge.

• Able to Influence/Success through Teams - Effectively uses influence to lead projects, able to influence the performance of others through effective collaboration.

• Able to Collaborate effectively across teams to manage development of moderately complex products.  

 

It would be great if you also had...

• Advanced degree such as MLIS or MBA is highly desirable

• Professional experience within the publishing industry

• Proficiency using a CRM system such as Salesforce for reporting and analyzing data  

 

Other important information about this position:

• This position is based out of ProQuest’s headquarters in Ann Arbor, MI

• Occasional travel is required

• This position requires weekday attendance with some scheduling flexibility available
