Content Ingestion Developer
What will I be doing?

As a Content Ingestion Developer at ProQuest, you will be tasked with assessing, attaining, and formatting a variety of content for use in a growing number of ProQuest products. Participating in the Agile process, you’ll start each week providing an update and getting new assignments based on your strengths and interests. As part of a 15 member team, you’ll work towards monthly goals that ultimately allow for ProQuest to provide market-leading content to researchers. 

This is a highly technical role for non-programmers who love solving puzzles and contributing in a fast paced environment. There’s a ton of collaboration and opportunity for incredible career growth and learning.

In this position, you will also..

• Support the evaluation process by providing input on usability of sample electronic feed and online content based
• Work with management, providers, and internal departments to inform them of content structure and possible revisions
• Develop acquisition mapping and transform flows to add content to product, migrate content to new manufacturing methods, and perform break/fix analysis 
• Create filter specifications, transformation services or web harvesters, cross-referencing the structure of the data with the capabilities of system and product requirements
• Support content pipelines, own quality and timeliness of new content from project start to production
• Consistently communicate status and maintain reports throughout all phases of new content, migration, project, and sustaining work
• Participate in small and medium-scale product, and process improvement projects 
• Understand and contribute to a team driven Scrum environment.

Qualified Candidates must have…
• Bachelor’s degree in Library and Information Science, Liberal Arts, or Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 years of experience transforming scholarly and other content in a similar industry or through related coursework.
• Experience using “regular expressions”.
• Proven record of communicating and working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Ability to use modular and UI driven scripting applications to develop and maintain content according to business requirements.
• Ability to review XML, XHTML and other markup and understand the mechanics behind website functionality.
• Ability to review and understand the function of SQL, basic Java, and Perl code.

Superstar Candidates will ALSO have…

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science, Liberal Arts, or Computer Science.
• Experience working in a Scrum development environment.
• Experience working in a Lean Six Sigma environment.
• Experience using Informatica Data Exchange, PowerCenter, and Data Transformation products to process content.
• Reading-level proficiency in a non-English Language.
