Senior Market Development Manager, North America


What will I be doing?


As the Senior Market Development Manager for the North American territory, your mantra will be, “Win, win, win”. Through strategic planning and leveraging your knowledge of library and marketing trends, you will drive sales within your region. Your days will include reviewing industry reports, competitor analysis and hosting calls with stake holders to create a briefing for the business units. You will meet with sales teams to collect feedback and implement new approaches to suit industry trends.

Market and Customer Insights: Monitor market information and provide regular updates and analysis on regional market, customer, and competitor insights to business units and leadership teams.


• Communicate internally a clear understanding of the drivers and barriers to purchase ProQuest products.

• Build customer and industry relationships.

• Represent ProQuest externally as expert in products, user and buyer needs.

• Monitor information from regional advisory boards, NPS and customer satisfaction surveys, quarterly collation of anecdotal feedback from sales, and more.

• Collaborate with global advisory board team to lead regional customer advisory boards strategy and planning.

• Review regional competitor activity, library budgets, product requests, customer pain points etc.

• Provide recommendations and for pricing, support and strategy data for BUs, licensing teams


Market Segmentation: Lead market segmentation and provide analysis of markets to support Business Unit, marketing and sales strategic decisions


• Definition of academic and other library segments within priority markets, standardization of segmentation data across the company, and development regional packaging to drive sales in sub segment


Marketing Planning:   Support the Senior Director of Regional Marketing and Head of Field Marketing in planning, development and implementation of go-to-market strategies.


• Drives prioritization of regional product mix, informing field marketing and sales territory plans. Coordinates with business units and product marketing to plan, develop and implement regional marketing plans by segment

Qualified Candidates must have…

• Bachelors’ degree or higher in related field, plus 6 years or longer relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experienced in working in an international matrix organization.

• Effectively uses influence to lead projects, able to influence the performance of others through effective collaboration.

• Able to develop customer specific value stories and presentations.

• Advanced Excel, Tableau and Data analysis skills; effective use of data to drive more complex decisions, ability to establish relevant metrics.



Superstar Candidates will ALSO have…

• MBA and/or marketing degree.

• Work experience in a scholarly environment and information industry.

• Experience working with academic libraries and consortia.

• Strong understanding of Scholarly Communication and the academic information market.

• Fluency in languages other than English.
