What will I be doing?

As a Sr. Project Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the successful startup, execution and delivery of technology-centric projects of medium or large size and complexity. In this role you will manage multiple software development projects simultaneously while working with a variety of distributed software development teams.


In this position, you will also…

• Oversee the project estimation, approval and ramp-up process.

• Structure projects around phases and milestones and organize teams and other elements to ensure successful project execution, applying techniques like critical path analysis where appropriate.

• Work with business stakeholders and project team participants to proactively resolve project conflicts, address open issues, set expectations and communicate status.

• Deliver projects that meet stakeholder expectations within budget, resource and schedule constraints.

• Ensure compliance with the broader organization’s governance, financial/portfolio management and project management frameworks.

• Continually monitor and communicate project status with respect to deliverables, costs, timescales and resources used. 

• Ensure that any material deviations are communicated and decisions are made to address.

Qualified Candidates must have…

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in related field, such as Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Management.

• At least 5 years of related project management or coordination experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Excellent researching and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze, compare, evaluate, reconcile and order data.

• Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to professionally interact with a diverse blend of personalities to reach resolution and maintain strong relationships.

• Ability to work with management tools like MS Office and Project.

• Ability to accurately track and manage project status on a resource, financial and schedule basis.

• Ability to effectively communicate to business stakeholders and other project participants.

• Ability to identify project dependencies and resolve roadblocks before they jeopardize the schedule.

• Extensive experience with project management methodologies such as Six Sigma, PMBOK, etc.

• Strong working knowledge of software development practices, such as SCRUM/Agile.

• Strong working knowledge of the business and technical domain.


It would be awesome if you also had…

• Master’s degree in degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or Business Management.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and/or Scrum Master certification.

• Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

• Previous experience using systems development life cycle (SDLC) model.

• Prior experience working with Product Owners and Scrum Masters in planning, estimating and identifying resource deliverables for projects.

• Experience working with technology leadership to identify and implement software development process improvements.

• Experience working with team collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence.

• This position is based in ProQuest’s Alexandria, VA office location.

• Occasional travel is required.

• This position requires weekday attendance and may have some flexibility around core working hours.
